How to Cut Murrine Sticks into Slices

How to Cut Murrine Sticks with Wheeled Blade Glass Cutters

What You'll Need

Before you start, make sure you have all your materials:

  • Wheeled Blade Glass Cutters
  • Murrine Sticks you want to cut
  • Container(s) to collect murrine slices
  • Protective Eye-wear

Cutting the Murrine

Lightly grab the Murrine Stick with the cutting blades to hold position, then snap quickly to cut. Slowly increasing pressure can crush the glass instead of cutting it.

When using this cutting tool, the murrine tends to shoot out to the right, so place a container or something to catch the murrine as they are chopped off.

Tips for Cutting Murrine Sticks

  • Be sure to wear eye protection when cutting glass.
  • Sharper blades work better. If your blades are dull, rotate them to engage sharper edges.
  • Letting a finger on your left hand press against the lower blade (away from the cutting edge) can help to steady your hands, allowing you to cut more precisely and quickly.
