How to Make a Flower Garden Oval Pendant with Fused Glass

In this guide, we’ll make a fused glass flower scene on an clear glass oval. The pendant will also be fused to a bail to hang it easily.

• One 1.5in precut clear glass oval
• One fusible bail
• Frit of your choice
• Stringer of your choice (we used Jade Green and Aventurine Green)
• Murrine of your choice

Step 1

We first need to fuse the bail to the glass oval. Since these need to be fully fused and the accessories will be fused at a lower temperature, we will just fire the bail and the oval first. 

1. Place the bail into the kiln.
2. Place the glass oval in kiln so that one of the sides overlaps the edge of the bail. Center the oval and bail as you wish. 
3. Close the kiln and set the kiln schedule to fire #1.

Step 2

Once the glass is cool, remove the glass from the kiln and place next to the other materials that you’re going to use to decorate the glass.

1. Slowly put some glasstac on the oval. Don’t use too much because we want to avoid getting the liquid on the kiln shelf when we put it into the kiln.
2. Arrange the frit and stringer onto the glass oval using tweezers. 
3. Once you’re content with the arrangement, place the glass back into the kiln and schedule it to fire #2.

Step 3

Once the glass is cool, remove the glass from the kiln and place on workspace. Our final step will be to arrange the murrine and fire once again.

1. Arrange your murrine as you wish, using glasstac and tweezers to help position them. 
2. Place the glass in the kiln and set kiln schedule fire #3.

Make sure you let the piece fully cool before handling. Remove it from the kiln to see your creation. You can use a string or decorative ribbon to hang the piece.
